I am thrilled to be living my dream by creating jewelry that
bridges the connection that I feel to the ancient world. My passion
for ancient history has me wondering about the similarity in
the designs of cultures of diverse timelines and locations. When
I visit a museum in Greece or South Africa or Taiwan, I wonder
how the nomadic people traded with each other to make a necklace
that contained beads traded along great distances. I have learned
from them how satisfying it is to collect gemstones and artifacts
from every continent and blend them into a one of a kind work
of art.

| Feeling a connection to the past fuels my desire to give stoneprints
a global reach by providing a refuge from our busy lives and
embracing personal adornment as an artistic tradition. Natural
stones come from the earth and are cool to the touch before warming
to the skin. Ancient cultures literally wore their bank around
their necks to trade and communicate status. Today we value adornment
as a means of self-expression and I hope Stoneprints inspires
conversation and reflection. |
I love most of all to create a design using a client's own
heirloom as a focal point. When I find archetypal amulets,
I feel I am crossing global and temporal boundaries to pay
homage to the unspoken spiritual connection between the antique
talisman and our postmodern world.
When people stop me and my clients in busy airports to ask
about a Stoneprints necklace I feel that my whole life has
led me in this direction and I have found my purpose. |
The inspiration for Stoneprints began when
I entered the Smithsonian Gem and Mineral Collection. Even
at age 14 a passion for studying and collecting jewelry was
born. Years of travel have enabled me to develop my own "silk
trade route" where I can incorporate amulets and artifacts
with gemstones, precious metal and pearls. Hand knotting
gives fluidity and movement to the stones and pays homage
to the ancient artisans who inspire me to create complex
patterns with vivid palettes. I hope to do my part as an
artist to draw attention to cultural heritage and by creating
a global concept I can inspire collectors to define their
own sense of style.
