This five strand necklace combines tangerine Canton Sea coral with brilliant facets of deep purple amethyst and lavender heart shaped freshwater pearls. Brazilian hand carved beads of pale pink rose quartz contrast with charoite, iolite, blue  and green calcedony and clear Brazilian quartz crystal facets. The colors are so vivid and royal in hue as to reflect a Renaissance spirit of European ancestry.

This necklace was the result of  a trip to Africa in 1982. The vivid green malachite beads and ancient ivory centerpiece  were purchased there as a way to give back to the ancient cultures trying to survive at the time. The beads were made by the tribal women connecting to their ancestral traditions. These materials were sold in government approved stores to prevent the killing of elephants. The simple style reflects my respect for Africa as the birthplace of  our modern fascination with jewelry and personal adornment. I hand knotted faceted  beads of azurite and square freshwater pearls to complete the 20 inch triple strands and finished with an Italian silver clasp.

This interesting necklace has leopard jasper in belt buckle beads as an homage to African tribal dress. Citrines and heart shaped smokey quartz complete the look of this 36 inch beauty.
